Welcome to the "How We Innovate" podcast by Applandeo, where we'll show you the road to the success of our guests - not only from the technical perspective.
Weāre happy to announce our unique podcast, where weāll be talking with people from the world of business and technology. We’ll share successful stories that led to our guests becoming innovators and get to know how theyāre using technology as a tool to achieve that. Weāll also talk about their business challenges and failures and, most importantly, lessons learned. We’ll pull back the curtain of their industry and share some personal adventures along the way.
In our first episode, we will be talking with Ralph Sutton, the co-owner of the Gas Digital Network. Since this is our very first episode (and podcast in general), we decided to open it with a King of Podcasts so he could enlighten us with his wisdom and experience.
During our conversation, Ralph told us about his path (slightly unorthodox) that has led him to where he is now. Recently, Ralph and his team managed to take advantage of the pandemic and grew his business throughout the crisis despite the challenges it created. Listen to the podcast to find out how they did it!
Ralph Sutton, aka āThe King of the Podcasts,ā is an NYC-based entrepreneur. He is the co-owner of the Gas Digital Network, a podcast network with over 25 shows, including the SDR (Sex, Drugs, and Rockānāroll) Show which he co-hosts with the renowned Big Jay Okerson. He brings over 20 years of experience in radio and entertainment.
To give you an idea of our first guest, we thought that we will give him a chance to introduce himself by answering a few of our questions:
1. What was your first job and what was the most important thing you learned from it?
I worked as a bathroom attendant at a racquetball club. I learned that you may think you are getting away with things – but you probably aren’t. I got fired for playing racquetball and never actually doing my job š
2. Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you have a beer with?
The Rock. Really just because I would try and talk him into coming on my podcast. He’s my producer’s crush.. so it would kill two birds with one stone…
3. What does a typical day look like for you?
I wake up and immediately make my bed. Then I usually go to the bathroom – clean up the apt a bit. Do a 20 minute stretch/mini-workout/meditation routine. Drink coffee and take my supplements. Then quickly go thru any emails/text/DMs that came in overnight and respond – then go workout our run. When I come back, depending on the day – it’s either researching who’s coming on SDR or GoodSugar Podcasts… Heading to the studios to put out fires, or working on the next project or improvement to gas.
4. What are three apps you canāt live without?
Not including any basic ones like Gmail, chrome, etc. Google Podcasts. I use it every day. To both listen to stuff on Gas – but I listen to educational podcasts when I run. Shazam – always trying to get new cool songs…Ā and Instagram – to creepily hit on women that are most likely too young for me.. or more likely think I am too old for them š
5. Most influential book or movie?
The book I tell everyone to read is CHATTER. It’s all about how to talk with your inner voice. I HIGHLY recommend it.
6. The first word that comes to your mind when you think of Poland
Hot girls (that are also probably too young for me) š
The episode will be published on the 20th of December 2021.
We are planning to share some unpublished materials, so donāt forget to check our podcast page! Ā
