Few questions for Neil:

1. What was your first job, and what was the most important thing you learned from it?

My first job after university was with Arthur Andersen in the audit and consulting practice in London. The training at Arthur Andersen was exceptional, and as part of it I studied and successfully became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. This training really helped me to understand company financial reports, what drives a business, and what makes them successful.

2. Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you have a beer with?

I am a great believer in the benefits of laughter, so I would love to spend dinner in the company of a comedian. I am sure spending an evening with a larger-than-life character such as Stephen Fry or Brian Blessed would yield some unforgettable stories.

3. How do you start your day / What does a typical day look like for you?

I am a keen cyclist, so I start each day by hopping on my bike to commute to the office. Starting the day off with some exercise outside, even in bad weather, is invigorating. I am almost always smiling when I am on the bike.

4. What are three apps you can’t live without?

Outlook, alarm clock, and being a Brit – weather.

5. Most influential book or movie?

At one time, it was ‘It’s Not About The Bike’ by Lance Armstrong. It was a great read and at the time – inspirational. I probably shouldn’t comment any further!

6. The first word that comes to your mind when you think of Poland?

Not a Polish word, but Danish – Bedstemoder (grandmother would be the English translation). My wife’s mother spent most of her life in Denmark but was Polish by birth. That was the first word I thought of.
