WCAG is becoming a big deal in the European Union

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, or WCAG set design standards that create a more inclusive environment on the web, so you don’t alienate your end-users, or even harm their health.

The European Accessibility Act is a non-discrimination law that applies to public and some of the private businesses, and aims to reduce the barriers that people with disabilities might face when accessing digital content, product, and services.

The law has to be adopted by the EU countries by June 2022 and enforced by July 2025. Also, an institution erected by the EU will impose a fine for public and private entities that will not adapt WCAG regulations by 2025.

Take action
Don’t alienate your potential customers

According to the United Nations, the EU is home to around 100 million, compared to almost 1 billion people with disabilities worldwide. It means that 1/7 of the population is facing various difficulties with using the Internet. Therefore, thanks to the implementation of WCAG, you not only comply with the law but also reach a wider audience, thus helping other users. Following these guidelines is a good practice for developers and business leaders not to alienate potential customers and it is becoming essential to successful web content.
